Q is for... (Christmas Day 18)

QUEENS SPEECH
At 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Christmas Day many Britons (and other countries too I think)  tune in to listen to the Queens Christmas Message. I personally have never watched it, as we never really watch T.V on Christmas Day, but I know many people do.
The message is based around what has happened that year and also the Queen's own personal milestones and feelings on Christmas.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • The broadcast was originally only done by the BBC, but in 1997 the Queen announced that the message would be broadcast alternately between them and the ITN. In 2011, Sky News joined the rotation.
  •  The idea for the Christmas message was actually introduced by Sir John Reith, the founder of the BBC.
  • In 1969 there was no message delivered because a special documentary had been made during the summer. Instead the Queen sent out a written message.
Thanks for reading and be sure to come back tomorrow!!
